چکیده

One of the approaches to generate narrative consists in modeling narrative in terms of a deep structure, as introduced by narrative theories in the middle of the 20th century. This papers revisits this computational approach, and raises the central issue of dramatic tension: Would it be possible to build a computational model of dramatic tension, where tension could be managed according to the well known ascending/descending dramatic curve? The paper describes a new computational model of narrative, based on a set of structural narrative elements (goals, tasks, obstacles, side-effects), a hierarchical and modular approach, a paradox-based model of dramatic tension and a solution for managing endings. The papers illustrates this theoretical model with a full example. 1998 ACM Subject Classification I.2 Artificial Intelligence

Building a computational model of emotion based on parallel processes and resource management

Dramatic story-worlds require software agents with emotional competences. I propose as building blocks for a computational model of emotion explicitly bounded resources and concurrently active processes acquiring and using the resources. A set of objectives for the implementation of such a model is presented based on limitations identified in earlier approaches towards the same goal. The propos...

A New Surface Tension Model for Prediction of Interaction Energy between Components and Activity Coefficients in Binary Systems

In this work, we develop a correlative model based on the surface tension data in order to calculate thermodynamic parameters, such as interaction energy between components (Uij), activity coefficients and etc. In the new approach, by using Li et al. (LWW) model, a three-parameter surface tension equation is derived for liquid mixtures. The surface tension data of 54 aqueous and 73 non-aqueous ...

A dynamic lattice model for heterogeneous materials

In this paper, the mechanical behavior of three-phase inhomogeneous materials is modeled using the meso-scale model with lattice beams for static and dynamic analyses. The Timoshenko beam theory is applied instead of the classical Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the mechanical properties of lattice beam connection are derived based on the continuum medium using the non-local continuum theory. T...

Effect of Reinforcement Type on the Tension Stiffening Model of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC)

Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is a developing concrete and today is increasing to interest using it in structures due to its advantages such as high-compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, highly durability and low-permeability. Therefore, it is necessary to provide models for prediction of nonlinear behavior of this material. This study is aimed to investigate the tension-stiffen...

Developing a Compositional Reservoir Model for Investigating the Effect of Interfacial Tension on Oil Recovery

In this paper, a simplified formulation for compositional reservoir simulator is presented. These types of simulators are used when inter-phase mass transfer depends on phase composition as well as pressure. The procedure for solving compositional model equations is completely described. For equilibrium calculation, property estimation Peng Robinson equation of state is used. This equation ...
